Do you feel that there are more than enough police or not enough ? Is the response time of the fire company too slow ? Can the police do more to rid crime? Just a thought. |

This area needs the police to not only combat the major problems of drugs and crime, but the smaller offenses that lead to bigger ones. Things like vandalism, loitering, disobeying ordinances. The minor ordinance offenses may seem like nit picking, but it falls into the category of give and inch and they'll take a mile. A lot of our major offenders of today were people never made to follow the rules when they were starting out. Kind of the mentality of "hey I can smoke cigarettes when I'm 12, bet I can drink a beer when I'm 16 and when I'm 18..." I do believe the law enforcement in this town is trying, but they are losing the battle because there are too crimes and not enough officers. |

I do know that the questions asked of the Mayor and the requests for an interview on this subject have not been replied to. I will say, however, that I did have a really nice and frank talk with Chief Rhone after Borough Council meeting a couple weeks ago and he seems really open and willing to share his thoughts on these concerns. I did invite him to sit down with me in a formal interview for the site and he agreed to do so sometime in mid-November. We'll keep you posted on when that's happening. Quick question: Have any of you directly addressed your questions to the borough, Mayor's office or police department? I do understand that we had a local Clearfield resident approach the Mayor on these subjects to which the Mayor suggested that she wouldn't chat via email but was willing to sit down with this lady and the Chief to discuss the state of things. Perhaps they'll do the same for you. Keep us posted! Samuel |
