Methadone Clinics Making The News

Man fatally stabbed outside Pawtucket methadone clinic
October 13,2006
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) - A man's stabbed to death this morning outside a methadone clinic in Pawtucket.
John Duffy is accused of killing 32-year-old Ronald Leone.
Pawtucket police say the fight started in a line outside a clinic where people were standing to receive a dose of methadone -- typically used to wean addicts off of heroin.
They say Leone stood up for a woman who had stepped out of the line and then tried to reclaim her place.
Authorities say Duffy objected, and that a fight that began in the line soon spread down the street.
Duffy's accused of stabbing Leone in the head and the side.

Three die in accidents
By Gabby Hudson

On Saturday, September 30 Amanda Lee Leming, 33 of Marble was found dead by a friend, William Arthur White in a camper trailer.

Sheriff's officer Roger Williams' incident report stated he arrived on the scene and found Chief Deputy Tom Frye interviewing White. He continued his investigation of the scene.

Williams stated that the victim was found with four morphine tablets located in the victim's purse. During the interview, Williams was told that the victim had been going to the methadone clinic in Blairsville Georgia and he had been taking methadone.

White explained that Leming was like a sister to him and had just recently move in with him because the victim did not like his daughtert's boyfriend's new friend.

White recalled he checked on the victim about midnight and she was sleeping and about 5;30 White discoverd her not breathing.

Later that day Williams said that he received a call from White stating that several of his morphine tablets were missing from the trunk of his car. He told Williams that he had just had the prescription refilled and he has hardly any left.

White explained to Williams that the victim has stolen from him previously and he felt that she had done the same.

Williams asked White why he kept the morphine in the trunk of his car and he stated that it was safer to keep them there since she has stolen from him before.

Williams then asked if the victim has access to his car keys and he stated that all you had to do was push a button in the car and the trunk would open.

The case remains open pending further investigation. An autopsy has been ordered.

Here is a link to an article about a baby who died of a methadone overdose. The mother admitted going to a methadone clinic hours before the baby died.

And now, Lawrence Twp is welcoming a Methodone Clinic. It has been reported that this is a "nice site" for it. Nice site, look what they have to drive thru to get to and from it. Now look at the amount of accidents that occur to and from the meth clinic. It is a shame that people will get hurt in accidents ( term losely used) before everyone sees how bad they are.
