If a project you are working hard on is being overlooked, whether on purpose or accidentally, a person sometimes has to speak up to be heard. What you heard was not whining but a person making sure a project they care about didn't suffocate under a blanket of politics. |

Samuel Anthony Ettaro IP: 72.72.199.223 Oct 25th, 2006 - 7:28 PM | Frank, Thanks, Frank. You just made my point for me. In case you missed it, you managed to do so by your obvious attempt to divert attention from this very real and serious issue by bashing the messenger. Everyone else, thanks for your support, but it's not about how much time I've put into these projects. It's about the powers that be who are keeping good ideas and the truth from the greater populace through such tactics. It's not just me that this is happening to. First, get your story straight, Frank. We never said anything about "no coverage". The issue was the nature of the coverage and the overt and obvious omissions which brought up a very real concern about potential censorship. Clearly, again, you either missed that or are simply diverting attention from this fact. Which ever the case, this is a sad commentary on your thought process and sense of what our leaders and press are responsible for...and to WHOM the are responsible. Let's get this straight, Frank. Last thing I need congratulated on is getting my name in The Progress. I could care less about that, and in fact, getting in the paper is probably HURTING me in these parts more than helping because I've no doubt that there are a lot of people out there who think like you do and aren't listening to the message because you're too busy looking for ways to discredit the messenger. If you think getting my name in the Progress matters to me on the level that you are insinuating it only shows that you don't know me, are ignorant to what I am doing and what I've done and seriously have either missed my points or are incapable or unwilling to see the truth in the argument regarding this issue. You would do yourself some good to save your condescending attitude and name-calling. It simply shows the very mentality that we are fighting against here at CI.A. and you are proving our points by showing your ignorance and trying to deflect the true issue away from the source of the problem by making this a high-school "who does he think he is" fest. My point on this issue is simple and the facts bare it out. If myself, or ANY community member puts vast amount of energies and resources into educating people as to the issues that concern us all, plans and researches alternative, positive programs and initiatives that this area can benefit from and brings those items in an official capacity before local governement and ends up being ignored by key members of that government as WELL as the local press, that illustrates just one of the very deep problems that we face in this area. Control. Censorship. Blacklisting. Ignorance. Arrogance. Etc. Perhaps you enjoy living in a repressed, depressed, censored environment where people are so petrified to speak out that they remain anonymous? I don't and I'm not going to NOT point out the truth just because people like you will undoubtably call me names and try to embarrass me. I will not be intimidated by such high-school tactics. Call me names, Frank, that's fine. I've taken on tougher talk than this. Conversely, if you want to get it going and open an intelligent adult debate on issues that are important to you, bring it on. You're welcome to come on the show and talk about any issue that you feel you know about could serve to help this area out. Even if you feel that your issue is railing against the points made on this subject, the ideas or initiatives on this site, and even if you want to try to completely change the subject and divert attention from the real point with childish finger pointing. That's your call how you use this forum. I'll let you put it out there and in fact, encourage you to do so. Based on what I'm seeing here, I believe full well that you'll just continue to prove my points for me. Try putting your efforts toward something worthwhile rather than an feable attempt to divert attention from this very serious and very real issue that most people around here are simply to afraid to speak the truth about. Your insights, ideas and even constructive criticisms are always welcome. If you have them, send them along. I worked 11 hours today and didn't get into town until late and didn't pick up The Progress, so I'll have to take your word for whatever it's worth. Maybe someone can enlighten me as to what a big star I am now, huH? I just can't wait! Somebody, please tell me or I just won't be able to sleep tonight! I'll wait right here by my laptop so I can gain all of your accolades. Oh, Please.... I guess I should stop now for I feel that I'm probably wasting my sarcasm on you like my original point was wasted. I'm going to bed. Good night, Frank. Peace, Samuel |

I can say that this is a real and substantial happening and shows that there IS indeed integrity amongst the local media. At least with the Progress anyway.... We'll see how far that creeps out to other sources from there! We'll see...... Peace, Samuel |
