From - The Courier Express 10-20-06 Sewer rates could rise in Clearfield CLEARFIELD - Sewer rates could be on the rise in Clearfield Borough. At Thursday's regular council meeting, Solicitor F. Cortez Bell III discussed the sewer surcharge. Presently, the surcharge is $6 per thousand gallons. Bell said he no longer believes that amount is enough to cover the PennVEST loans. Bell said the sewer project was designed to be self-sustaining and the surcharge was to be used for PennVEST payments. However, the council has been using some of the surcharge money for "sewer-related expenses" incurred while work on the project is taking place. Stiffler, McGraw, and Associates Engineer Todd Banks said with rising construction costs and the cost of materials, it may be necessary to raise the surcharge to $7 per thousand in 2007 and increase it again to $8 in 2008. |

I will be contacting Pam asking for a formal interview on this topic to post to the site. More on that soon. Samuel |
